Barcelona talks with Sanchez continue

Alexis Sanchez

Gino Pozzo, the son of Udinese owner Giampaolo Pozzo, has confirmed that talks are ongoing with Barcelona regarding the sale of Alexis Sanchez.

It emerged earlier that Manchester City have apparently pulled out of the race to sign the Chile forward.

City boss Roberto Mancini implied that Sanchez was not worth more than the £30m bid City are reported to have submitted and that is why he has pulled out of the race.

But Udinese say that the 22-year-old was only interested in joining Barcelona and talks are still taking place with a view to the winger joining the European champions.

Pozzo told gazzetta.it: "Negotiations continue with Barcelona. We are waiting for the evolution, even if it's quite a complex deal.

"We continue to work only on (one) table because with Manchester City we never opened the deal; the guy just wants Barcelona."

There is still the possibility that Sanchez will stay at Udinese and Pozzo has not ruled that out.

"The option that Sanchez remains in Udinese is always valid and if the boy decides to stay we would be very happy," he said.

Reports have suggested that Barcelona are attempting to agree a deal for Sanchez which would involve Jeffren joining Udinese.

The Spain Under 21 international is understood to be unhappy at the prospect, but Pozzo said: "It's not true that he refused to come to Udinese, we have not yet talked to him."

SERGIO AGUERO CLOSE TO JUVENTUS ? DON´T SEE IT ( AT THIS MOMENT)

SPANISH FOOTBALL is a buzz with transfer speculation, one being the future of Argentine International & ATLETICO DE MADRID forward SERGIO AGUERO. From Italy & from its Sports paper "La Gazzetta dello Sport", the Italians see Ageuro as a Juventus player - nearly.

Spanish Football
Sergio Aguero
The Italian Club has Aguero as their Nº 1 priority, & have offered 35M€, to which Atletico wants 40M€. To continue negotiations it is said that the Clubs will meet early next week to continue advancing. However there are some points that makes me believe that the optimism of Juventus may be torpedoed & that signing Aguero is not so easy as the Italian press makes one believe:

1. The Aguero purpose for leaving Atletico is to play on the European stage, concretely Champions League. Juventus hasn´t qualified for Europe & Atletico has, at least for the Champions League prelimary qualifiers. Does it seem logical to leave a Club for another not in Europe?

2. Aguero has said publicly he wishes to stay in Madrid.
3. Maradona - his father in law - let "slip" his future was in the city of Madrid
4. The salary of Aguero is around 6.5 - 7M€ ( net ). In Italy due to tax laws that would have to be higher ( gross wise ) to keep his level. Few Clubs in the World can pay his salary.

All clues point to REAL MADRID & some say there may all ready be a "verbal agreement".

The big existing problem is that Atletico de Madrid cannot openly sell Sergio Aguero to Real Madrid due to the supporters backlash. Atletico de Madrid owner Gil Marin is "frightened" of how Atletico fans will react selling their star to the enemy. Thus a whole series of "strategies" need to be put in place to "soften" public opinion & it looks as if that process has already began. Comments from Atletico de Madrid President Cerezo yesterday has attempted to put some water on the Aguero fire & if things go accordingly, Real Madrid ( who does not wish to break Club relations with Atletico ) may begin opening talks & pressuring further.

The "JUVENTUS manoeuvring" also "smells" like pressure from Sergio Aguero,  & a clear message to Real Madrid to get "their shit together" & lift a few gears with the transfer process & negotiation.

I see Sergio Aguero in Real Madrid, it is the true desire of the player & Real Madrid is interested. Does this mean that the "Juventus option" is therefore discarded? No,  one can never say never, Football is too volatile to make clear predictions, but if I had to bet today I see Aguero closer to Real Madrid than any other Club. Stay tuned!

Manchester United to bid £20m for Arsenal's Nasri?

The "Samir Nasri to Manchester United" story started off looking like just another unrealistic piece of speculative gossip to be thrown on the enormous pile of transfer rumours which end up not to be true. It looked destined for that large, disappointing, ill-informed pile which raise many hopes only to be let down miserably. However, it has, like all good summer transfer stories, built up a lot of momentum - so much so, that reports are emerging that Manchester United are set to bid an impressive £20 million for the Arsenal play maker, as well as meet his wage demands of £130,000 a week in an attempt to persuade the Frenchman out of Arsenal.

With only a year left on his contract, talks between Nasri and Arsenal were said to be ongoing, but Manchester United's interest has remained throughout those talks, and now it seems Sir Alex Ferguson will turn that initial interest into a genuine bid.

I have previously evaluated the likelihood of Nasri leaving Arsenal for Manchester Untied, concluding that despite Nasri's ambition and United's success compared to Arsenal's drought, he would continue talks with Arsenal and decide to stay. This was of course, guesswork mixed with pessimism, but it seems every day that goes by, a deal seems more likely. Perhaps this is why a Nasri move away from Arsenal is made more likely?

Naturally, there is talk on Twitter about this, with Nasri having apparently already had a medical, or one booked for next week at Bridgewater Medical centre, depending on where you look and what you read. Others say, that despite Arsene Wenger's insistence that he would not sell Nasri to United whatever the circumstances, the Arsenal board has over ruled the Arsenal manager because of the amount of money in the prospective Manchester United bid.

Of course, all this talk must be taken with a few pinches of salt, but it will be interesting to see how this develops over the next few days, as we will surely discover if there is actually any truth behind this.

Meanwhile, as Arsenal try to keep hold of their players, they are also obviously looking to recruit some new ones, and Ricky Alvarez is said to be a player high on Wenger's list. He wrote on his Twitter account the following:

"Me encantaria jugar en el arsenal, seria un sueño para mi! Ojala dios quiera que se concrete!"
Which translates to:

“I would love to play for Arsenal, it would be a dream for me! I pray to God that this becomes true”

Man United - £200k a Week Contract For Sneijder

Ashley Young and Phil Jones are already done deals for Manchester United, with the Spanish goalkeeper David de Gea soon to follow now that his successful European Under-21 campaign is over. But will anyone else follow them through the Old Trafford doors to be welcomed by a warm handshake from Sir Alex Ferguson? A central midfielder is expected from the fans, and United's interest in several players in that position has been well documented, Wesley Sneijder included, and it has emerged today that there is only one real stumbling block - and it isn't the £35 million asking price.

No, Manchester United have the money in the bank to afford such a signing, and are prepared to splash the cash to replace Paul Scholes. £35 million for the 27 year-old Dutchman is certainly expensive, and would be United's record signing above Dimitar Berbatov, but Sir Alex Ferguson would be willing to spend that amount on the Inter Milan star, who has proven himself at the very top level in Italy, in Europe and at the World Cup. Sir Alex is a known fan.

The problem here though, is Sneijder's demands of £200,000 per week - £30,000 more than he earns with Inter. Another slight problem is that United are not the only club interest, because their Manchester rivals City are, and would have no problems in paying those wages. Sneijder is said to prefer a move to United though, so if there was a straight choice for the attacking midfielder, United would surely be the winner, even if the wages offered were slightly lower.

Manchester United's current top earner is Wayne Rooney - his highly publicised contract saga ending with him receiving a contract worth £180,000 a week plus another £90,000 for image rights, equalling £250,000 a week. United are clearly willing to spend big on their most important and most valuable players, and Sneijder would certainly be classed as an important an valuable player if he were to join United.

Ashley Young will be receiving around £130,000 a week when he starts playing for United which raised a few eyebrows among United fans who weren't expecting a signing who plays on the wing. Sir Alex has his reasons, and Young is added to the United wage bill which stands at £132 million a year, but will Sneijder?

There has been a huge rise in footballers wages ever since 1961, when the Football League decided to abolish the wage cap, allowing the then England captain Johnny Haynes become the first £100 a-week player. Clubs have since tried to maintain their own club wage caps, but very few last in modern football, with the biggest and best players demanding astronomical salaries, giving the players the ability to hold their clubs to ransom over a contract.

In 2000, 39 years after the wage cap was removed, Roy Keane became Manchester United's top earner, on £52,000 a week and just four years later, he was on almost double that amount, with him being paid £100,000 per week. It has been a rapid growth, and with more and more investors willing to pay the money, wages will continue to grow - and continue to become a problem for prospective buying clubs such as United.

If United have made Sneijder their number one target it is true, £200,000 may be an issue, but United could pay that amount if it came to it. Of course, if a bid for Sneijder is accepted by Inter, it will be down to the player as to how much he will accept to leave for in wages. Other midfield targets could prove cheaper weekly, with Luka Modric currently earning £50,000 at Tottenham, Samir Nasri earning £80,000 a week at Arsenal and Bastien Schweinsteiger earning just under £100,000 at Bayern Munich.

This Paul Scholes replacement will come at a price, both in a transfer fee and in a weekly wage. Manchester United and Sir Alex Ferguson will be looking for value for money, and it is up to Sir Alex to decide if £200,000 a week and £35 million provides him with the value. What do you think?

Arsenal Bid £18m for Juan Mata

Arsenal have placed an £18 million bid for the Spanish midfielder Juan Mata, which would smash Arsenal's transfer record, as Wenger follows through with his claim for an active transfer window. The Daily Mail claim an exclusive, in which they state that the player is happy to discuss his future away from current club Valencia.

Ridden with debt, Valencia have been unloading some of their top players for the last few seasons, with David Villa sold to Barcelona and David Silva to Manchester City, both for big fees. Now it seems, Juan Mata will provide the club with much need money to help to pay off the debts, as £18 million seems a substantial offer for the 23 year-old midfielder.

Mata played a key part in the Spanish Under-21 European Championship win in the past few weeks, and there was huge interest in him from scouts from all over the world, but Arsenal have moved ahead of them all with an apparent solid bid.

Liverpool are very keen on the youngster, but the lure of Chapions League football will probably sway Mata towards an Arsenal move, even though Liverpool would have no problems in matching Valencia's apparent £21 million asking price.

Arsene Wenger is prepared it seems to pay well over the current Arsenal transfer record of Andrey Arshavin, who cost the club £13 million. It is a big move for Wenger who has come under increasing pressure to change his transfer policy and spend some real money on quality players, and with Mata's versatility of being able to play both in the middle and on the wing as well as a good assist rate, this would be a very impressive signing of attacking intent from the Arsenal manager.

In 33 La Liga games last season, Mata scored eight and assisted 12. The Spanish style of play which Mata has learned whilst in the Spanish international squad, and which comes naturally to many Spaniards would fit well with Wenger's Arsenal style, so Wenger will be hoping Arsenal are the players first choice, especially as the manager looks to avoid any big bidding wars for the player.
Mata's agent - his father said before the European Championships finished:

"Until after the Euro, we won't listen to anybody. After that, we're willing to listen to all offers we receive."

A Look At United & Arsenal Target Thiago Alcântara

When obviously talented footballers, particularly young ones, have an impressive tournament or good few games, they are routinely linked to the top clubs. But when that "link" turns into a reported bid, which is the case with Barcelona's 20 year-old midfielder, Thiago Alcântara, it starts to get interesting. Yes, Manchester United have apparently made a £15 million offer for Alcântara, who impressed during Spanish under-21 European Championship campaign in which they predictably won the trophy with a very talented side.

Paul Scholes's style of play was often compared to the Spanish style, with slick and accurate passing, doing the simple things right nearly all of the time, and keeping the ball in the midfield perfectly. It is well known that United are looking for a replacement for Scholes, and now instead of having a player (of extreme quality) who is similar to a Spainiard, they can have the real thing, in a much younger form. Alcântara has a big future, but where his future lies will most probably be decided in the coming months.

According to some reports, Barcelona have offered Alcântara as part of a player plus cash deal for Arsenal's Cesc Fabregas, as they look to save some money after spending about £35 million or more on Alexis Sanchez of Udinese. Alcântara would be a good fit at Arsenal, with their passing style, but Arsenal seem keen to hold onto their captain, and would only be likely to let go of Fabregas for money - more than what Barcelona have offered them. Perhaps if Barcelona were to sell Alcântara to United, they could raise enough money to please Arsenal with a decent bid for Fabregas.

So why is there so much interest in this 20 year-old Spanish midfielder, born in Italy to a Brazilian father called Mazinho who was a World Cup winner with his nation back in 1994? Well, first of all, he's Spanish, and has been in Barcelona's system since he was 14 years-old. That in itself is a very good start. He has clearly been brought up with football every day at a young age thanks to his father, and in his time in the Barcelona ranks will have learned the Spanish way of passing, moving and keeping the ball as well as all of the tricks and particulars that they thoroughly teach. But from what I have seen, he is doing what potential stars must always do - translate the football knowledge and love of football into performances on the field.

He has fantastic technique; his goal in the European Championship Under 21 final against Switzerland from 40 yards out showcases that in him, and he has a great range of passing. He has the ability and agility to squirm out of difficult situations when players have surrounded him, and will usually find a team mate from there - it seems to come natural to him.

He has quick and tricky feet, with a clever mind and vision to match, allowing him to set up attacks from very little, and he has the mature ability to know when not to try something too ambitious - doing the simple things well, such as passing and creating. In simple terms, he is the guy in the middle you pass to when you want something to happen. He is definitely a talent, and in his 20 first team Barcelona games, has scored four and assisted 3.

It's easy to get carried away with a young talent such as this, as I have shown before, so I'll slow down with some possible problems he could encounter with English football (and then counter them with good points). First of all, the matches I have seen of him have mostly been in the under 21 European Championships, which may flatter him, playing against younger, less developed and experienced players. The immediate step up to English football playing in the middle as the vital play maker in either the Manchester United or Arsenal side would certainly be a big challenge, though it can be said that he has impressed with the Barcelona first team, and they are currently the best team in Europe.

Another problem that has been mentioned is his height. He is quite small, standing at 5 feet and 7 inches, and it has been queried whether he could get crowded out in physical games in England. Lets put this into perspective; Andres Iniesta and Xavi are both 5 ft 7 inches, so Alcântara is taller than them both, and they coped fine in the Champions League final against United, and Paul Scholes is the same height as Alcântara, and we all know how succesful his United career was for almost 20 years.

Probably the only real, big issue, along with the risk of Alcântara not settling in England, is that, like Arsenal's Fabregas, he may look for a return to his beloved Barca later in his career. That will be an unwanted and irritating burden on United, who have already gone through a similar transfer saga with Cristiano Ronaldo a few years back, but like Ronaldo, United or Arsenal could end up getting the best out of Alcântara, and selling him back to Barcelona for a large profit - it wouldn't be such a bad deal after all.

While he may not be an immediate replacement for Paul Scholes, he has everything it takes to be that man in the near future, and if Arsenal want him to replace either Nasri or Fabregas, he is equally as capable. Now all they need to do is persuade Barcelona to let him go.

Jermain Defoe a "good signing" for Arsenal

Arsenal have been linked to a whole host of top strikers in the past few weeks, and some names churned up have been more popular than others. Jermain Defoe is a player who strongly divides opinions with Arsenal fans, as some see him as injury prone, up and down, inconsistent form, not a regular goalscorer - and worst of all he plays for Arsenal's arch rivals Tottenham. Others, like Ray Parlour, believe Defoe would be a decent signing for Wenger, who could chip in a good few goals for Arsenal when he is in good form, and pose a real threat up front, with some clinical finishing.

Ray Parlour, the former Arsenal midfielder explained why he thinks Defoe would be a good signing and clever addition to the Arsenal side, despite his Tottenham connection. Essentially, what Parlour says is that Arsenal need a new dimension in their game that will help them to win a trophy. He believes it is a clinical finisher, who Arsene Wenger could rely on to come off the bench when needed to score a goal and win a game. He said:

“They do need a striker. Marouane Chamakh found it difficult (last season). He did well in the early parts of the season but went off the boil a bit.”
“They should get someone who’s a little bit different, who can score a goal, like an Ian Wright. Jermain Defoe would be a good signing for me. Tottenham fans won’t like it but that’s how it goes these days. I was there when Sol Campbell signed and he was a great player for Arsenal.”
“What he (Wenger) was trying to say is that when his best side is out, they've got a chance. The problem he’s got is in-depth."
“When his major players get injured, there is not enough quality behind who can come in and do a job. When I was playing, when vital players got injured like Dennis Bergkamp, we still had players who could come in and do a good job. That’s the difference now."
“If Arsenal get their top side out they are a very good side, there’s no doubting that. But if a couple of them get injured, have they got enough back-up? Players like Bendtner and Denilson, can they come in and do a sound job? Last season they had their chances but I don’t think they did."
“That’s what he’s got to look at. He’s got to look at trying to build a squad that, if he does have some suspensions or injuries which you don’t expect, then you can deal with it.”
Defoe is 28 years-old and isn't the tallest of strikers. His injuries restricted his success last season, meaning he only scored 9 goals in 30 games. Perhaps if Arsenal were to have brought him in on the back of a successful season in terms of goalscoring, the fans would be a bit more pleased and confident, but as it is, when Arsenal are linked to prolific goalscorers from last season such as Radamel Falcao and even Peter Odemwingie, Defoe doesn't seem much of a step up.

Andre Villas-Boas Joins Chelsea

So Chelsea has finally confirmed that they have signed Andre Villas-Boas from Porto, Andre Villas-Boas is no stranger to the club having work in the london club from 2004-2007 under former coach Mourinho.

Both worked with football legend Sir Bobby Robson, tasted success with Porto and have had big money jobs at Chelsea.

However, despite the 33-year-old being appointed as Chelsea manager on a three-year contract, he is unlikely to arrive with the same swagger as Mourinho in 2004.

Mourinho told the press: “I’m European champion and I think I’m a special one.”

Despite being dubbed the Mini Special One and Mou Two, Villas-Boas is a modest man humble about his achievements.

Chelsea have agreed a reported 15million euros compensation payment with Porto and a lucrative £4.4million a year salary for Villas-Boas who guided the Portuguese club to this season’s Europa League crown.
The 33-year-old replaces Carlo Ancelotti, who was axed at the end of last season just 12 months after guiding the club to a league and FA Cup double.

A club statement read: “Andre was the outstanding candidate for the job. He is one of the most talented young managers in football today and has already achieved much in a relatively short space of time.
“His ambition, drive and determination matches that of Chelsea and we are confident Andre’s leadership of the team will result in greater successes in major domestic and European competitions.
“Andre will bring his coaching experience back to a club he is already very familiar with, having previously worked here for three years.

“He has always been highly regarded at Chelsea and everyone here looks forward to welcoming him back and working with him.”

The 33-year-old Andre Villas-Boas quit Porto yesterday and cleared the way for his move to London.

Eto’o, who has indicated he wants to quit Inter Milan, could be available for around £12m.

Sergio Ramos Threatens To Quit Real Madrid

It has been revealed that Inter Milan are keeping tabs on Sergio Ramos’ deteriorating situation at Real Madrid.

El Mundo Deportivo has reported that the Spanish international, through his brother and agent Rene, has issued Real with an ultimatum: Double my money or sell me.

The 25 year old defender is demanding his current €3 million-a-year deal – which was signed four years ago – be dramatically upgraded. Tired of Real’s dithering, Ramos is ready to bring the matter to a head this summer.

Italian giants Inter are watching developments closely and know Ramos would welcome a move to Milan, where he is a regular visitor.

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is also a big fan of the Spain international, while Manchester City will be alerted as they seek a replacement for want-away Jerome Boateng.

Ferguson asked after Ramos through Rene before Christmas and despite the arrival of Phil Jones, could do with the Spaniard’s versatility.

AC Milan Keen On Juventus Striker Amauri

Interesting news are out and it has been revealed that AC Milan are in contact with Juventus over a price for Amauri.

The Turin giants are expected to cash in on the 31 year old this summer, with the centre-forward not in the plans of new coach Antonio Conte.

Amauri revived his career on-loan at Parma last season and Milan coach Max Allegri sees him as cover for No1 striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Corriere dello Sport says Amauri is aware of Milan’s interest and keen on the move.

His agent, Enzo Bronzetti, has close ties to the Rossoneri, which should smooth negotiations.

Can Andre Villas-Boas Succeed At Chelsea?

Andre Villas-Boas resigned from Porto on Tuesday, and agreed to a three-year contract at Chelsea. The Portuguese is now the seventh manager of the Roman Abramovich era.

Villas-Boas, who won the domestic double as well as winning the Europa League last season with FC Porto will now replace Carlo Ancelotti, who was sacked in May.

The 33 year old Portuguese tactician is set to become the youngest manager in the Premier League but the main question is, does he have what it takes to succeed at Chelsea.

Villas-Boas is not new to Chelsea. He previously worked at the club as a scout under Jose Mourinho and has received high praise for his man-management skills.

However, being only 33 years old, will he be able to command the respect and loyalty of the multi-millionaire players at Chelsea? Obviously managing the players at Porto was much easier compared to the big name players such as Drogba, Anelka, Torres, Lampard, Terry and many more.

However, managing the Chelsea players will not be the only problem for Andre Villas-Boas. He will now have to put up with the Russian billionaire who owns Chelsea, Mr Roman Abramovich. The success craving Russian is known for his hands on approach at Chelsea, may it be on the field or off it. Everyone thought Jose Mourinho was indispensable and one clash with Roman was enough for the Special One to be shown the exit.

Andre Villas-Boas record at FC Porto was second to none. He managed a total of 58 matches winning 49 of them. That is a win rate of 84.48%. After setting such high standard for himself at Porto, the time has come for Villas-Boas to translate that success into the Premier League and Chelsea.

So,back to the question at hand. Can Andre Villas-Boas Succeed At Chelsea? Vote now and let us know what you think. Cheers!

Walcott: Benzema Signing Would be Good - Wenger Knows

While Arsenal prepare for their busy summer, Theo Walcott discussed the possibility of some new additions to the Arsenal side. With Wenger open about the prospect of a summer which involves more transfer activity than usual, naturally, there are more rumours to contend with, one of which is Arsenal's link to Real Madrid's Karim Benzema.

Wenger has already expressed his interest in Benzema, but the young French striker is unlikely to be looking for a move away from Spain after his successful second season under Jose Mourinho in which he scored 26 goals in all competitions and assisted 9Not only that, but Benzema, who has a long term contract with Madrid would cost Arsenal and Wenger a lot of money - money that, although Wenger probably has, would not be willing to spend. Walcott has heard about these rumours:
"Its always nice to see new additions to the squad but maybe one player will attract more players and keep players."
"I've heard rumours of Karim Benzema at Real Madrid. Someone like that would help you hold on to your best players, get the crowd on their feet as well."
Meanwhile, as his manager comes under increasing pressure to bring big names to the club, the 23 year-old English winger was quick to defend his transfer policy and past record in the market, citing Thomas Vermaelen as a fantastic signing. It is true, Arsenal missed the Belgian centre back hugely over the season, and will gain a lot of confidence at the back thanks to his recovery and place back in the side. Walcott said:
"The manager knows what he's doing, it's up to him. He brought in Thomas Vermaelen and we've missed him because he's a great signing."
"The boss knows what he's doing and he says he is going to spend so it will be interesting."
Interesting it will be, but it will also be disappointing if Wenger fails to live up to the expectations he gave the Arsenal fans when he said  there would be a busy summer. Arsenal fans want to see some experience, some solidity, some more quality in their team that was lacking in much of this last season where they ended up withering away and finishing in a poor, poor, fourth place for Arsenal's standards.

Francesco Totti Expecting Great Things From New Owners

Francesco Totti has said that he is expecting only the best from the AS Roma’s new owners.
The Italian side has been taken over by Thomas Di Benedetto and other American investors who already have majority shares in the Boston Red Sox and Liverpool.
The AS Roma captain told RMC : “I hope for a great Roma side that can win at international level as well as in Italy,”.
“The economic situation is the most important thing for a club. The Americans can do a lot for us and I expect a great deal from them.
“Of course, it’s also up to us to give back what the club owners provide. I hope the new stadium can be constructed before I hang up my boots.”
As for when that could be, Totti has grand ambitions for his twilight years.
“I certainly wouldn’t throw the Scudetto away if I won that, but the Champions League is the only trophy I haven’t won. If I win that, then I can retire.”

Arsenal Urged To Sell Cesc Fabregas

Nigel Winterburn has declared that the time has come for Arsenal to sell Cesc Fabregas.

Football giants Barcelona, Chelsea and Inter Milan are all interested in the Spanish international midfielder.

Winterburn said: “The big question for the summer is will Cesc Fabregas stay and I must admit, I have my doubts.

“Cesc clearly wanted to go last to Barcelona last year, but he is under a long contract at Arsenal and is not the type of player to kick up too much of a fuss. He has too much respect for his manager and club to do that.

“He will always give everything in games, but if he still wants to leave now and go back to Spain then the club will have to think about letting it happen.

“Arsenal will call the shots though, and can ask for as much as they like from Barcelona. It would have to be in excess of £30m for a player of Cesc’s calibre who is still only 24.

“But if he does leave it will give a chance to others, and a chance to maybe alter the style of play in midfield. The current system based on technical ability has been found out in the last few years, and Arsene may look to go in a new direction.”

Emmanuel Eboue to Leave? - Djourou Wants Reward

While Arsenal battle to keep hold of one of their vital play makers, Samir Nasri, another player, who can be considered a little less important in terms of Arsenal's future challenge for trophies, Emmanuel Eboue may be on his way out of the Emirates.

Newly promoted Queens Park Rangers manager, Neil Warnock is said to be interested in bringing the Ivorian to Loftus Road. The 28 year old's experience and versatility at the top level of English football could prove crucial in QPR's fight for survival next season, and Eboue, who has proved a useful squad member at Arsenal may be a player forced out of Arsenal as a result of Wenger's busy summer of transfers.

A sale would add to Arsenal's spending power in the market - not by much, but surely enough to add to the transfer kitty that Wenger has been so reluctant to use over the past few years. QPR would offer Eboue the chance to stay in London rather than relocate to a foreign country where he has been linked to Roma in Italy.

Eboue would add his athleticism, tireless attitude and versatility to QPR as well as his enthusiasm and comical personality - often seen as the joker of the Arsenal side off the pitch. On the pitch however, he can be equally as comical with sometimes unpredictable errors and mistakes which have often proven costly for Arsenal over the seven seasons he has been there.

Meanwhile, Johan Djourou, Arsenal's Swiss defender has tried to get his team mates and manager inspired and prepared for next season where he hopes to reward the patient Arsenal fans with success. On the back of the 2 - 2 draw with England he said:

"Obviously, now we want to do better as a team and as individuals to get something. I think that the fans deserve and the manager deserves something. We need to get better, get stronger, and really prepare well for next season."
When questioned about Arsenal's busy summer ahead, and what impact the possible new recruits may bring, Djourou was less certain but insisted that new players and competition for places is always good:

"I don't know - that's for the manager to answer. I think competition is always good. That pushes you in your position. When you want to make a team better, you have to have a good squad. I think that we had a good squad but if players with experience or different players can bring quality, they're welcome."

Arsenal Ready To Sell Samir Nasri To Real Madrid

Interesting transfer news are out and it has been revealed that Arsene Wenger is preparing to cash in on Samir Nasri.

The Sunday Mirror has reported that talks about a new deal for the French international remain in deadlock.

The former Marseille star has one year left on his contract and Arsenal will not allow the agreement to run down further – that would mean the France star would become eligible for a free transfer.

Arsenal will recall paying the price of seeing Mathieu Flamini depart on a Bosman free transfer three years ago.

Both Real Madrid and Manchester City are keen on Nasri, whose contract status means that he would command a cut-price fee of around £10m.

Arsenal would prefer to sell Nasri to Real Madrid if he rejects their own offer – rather than see him embellish rivals City’s formidable squad.

Berbatov Should be Sold if £15m Bid is Offered

Dimitar Berbatov is a fantastic football player and a top professional for Manchester United. That much has been confirmed in the crazy season the Bulgarian has experienced at Old Trafford, from the highs of scoring some fantastic goals on the way to becoming the Premier League's top scorer to the low of being left out of the Champions League Final squad. However, despite affirming his commitment to Manchester United for next season admirably, it has been revealed that Berbatov will not be signing an extension to his contract at United.

With only one year left, Sir Alex Ferguson offered Berbatov a one year extension to his contract before the Champions League Final, and Berbatov did not sign. He said that he is happy to stay at Manchester United, fight for a first team place and ride out the rest of his £80,000 a week contract to allow him to leave on a free transfer at the end of next season.

Now, however much you like Berbatov for his graciousness and the certain vulnerability he showed when he told the world of the shame that came over him from being left out of the Champions League Final squad, you cannot see leaving the guy in the squad for a year only for him to leave for a free a good deal for the club. Berbatov cost the club £30 million plus Friazer Campbell on loan - he didn't come cheap, and it was a last minute deal involving a lot of stress and strained relations with Tottenham. Surely United must take some money from a sale rather than just release him?
Berbatov said on Bulgarian TV:
"I will stay, I will fight for the 20th title. If I were an easy quitter, I would never have made it this far. Everything at Manchester United starts from scratch for me on July 4."
"There will be new finals and we will be fighting for new titles. I am moving ahead. When you go through difficult times, you should not quit."
Okay, he will not quit, but he will not commit either, according to Goal.com, so it is not a great situation for United if they want to take in some money from his sale. PSG have apparently opened the bidding for Berbatov at £13 million, and there are several clubs interested in his signature, including Bayern Munich, and some have even said Tottenham.

Manchester United may be able to offload Berbatov to his former club Tottenham in some sort of player plus cash exchange for Luka Modric whom United have reportedly made their prime target, though Tottenham are far from willing to let go of him at any price.

Don't get me wrong, I would love Berbatov to stay if he was signing a new contract - a one year extension, I simply object to United allowing him to run down his current contract and allow him to go for free when you consider how much was paid for him. I hope that if Berbatov truly has decided not renew his contract or extend it, then any offer for him is very seriously considered.

With Owen recently signing an extension, Welbeck and Macheda returning to fight for a starting place with Rooney and Hernandez, competition is going to be increasing tough, so, it pains me to say it, perhaps Berbatov leaving wouldn't be such a bad thing in terms of the young players chances in the first team.

I trust Sir Alex Ferguson to make the right decision on the matter, and whatever happens to Berbatov, I am very grateful for what he has done at United, especially this season. He is a model professional and a quality footballer, and he still has game in him - whether he chooses to play them at Manchester United is another matter.

Brad Friedel Joins Tottenham Hotspur On A Free Transfer

Aston Villa goalkeeper Brad Friedel has agreed to join Tottenham Hotspur on a free transfer.

Friedel, now age 40, was out of contract at Villa Park and has turned down reported interest from his former club Liverpool in order to join Harry Redknapp’s side.

It is expected that he will usurp Tottenham’s established number one Heurelho Gomes after the Brazilian committed a number of errors in the second half of last season.

Harry Redknapp confirmed the news in the club’s official website: “Brad is a top goalkeeper of real quality who has great experience.

“It is good to have three such experienced top goalkeepers at the club in Gomes, Carlo [Cudicini] and now Brad and it means we have competition for places particularly with the number of games we will hopefully face next year both domestically and in Europe as well.”

Confirmation of the deal means Friedel is likely to extend his Premier League record for playing consecutive games, with the tally currently standing at 275.

The American made 114 league appearances for Aston Villa across three seasons at Villa Park.

FC BARCELONA - REAL MADRID TRANSFER RUMOURS - SIGNINGS 2011 | DIRTY FILTHY TALK

Thought I give readers today a brief run down of the hot rumours & gossip doing the SPANISH FOOTBALL circles at this moment, & that are taking up pages in the local Spanish Sports papers.  As habitual, the two Football Clubs that take up most of the talk are FC Barcelona & Real Madrid with both full of "juicy back room" talk & exaggerated assertions. However, before we launch into local "transfer talks" allow me to remind you that they are just that, dirty & filthy local gossip :O)

Spanish Football
Rossi of Villareal

The hottest rumour in town is that VILLAREAL Italian-American foward ROSSI is very close to shutting a deal with FC BARCELONA. The 18 goals this season in La Liga by the Italian International has won over Barça Coach Guardiola who sees Rossi as a great addition for Barça next season. The rumour is so hot, that some obversers have bravely gone on a limb to say the Rossi has an "agreement" with Barça, & that now Villareal has to put a price & sell. I would not go so far, but I do say that this piece of news has been lingering for weeks & that it gets stronger all the time. Stay tuned!

Spanish Soccer
Thiago of AC Milan

News that has jump into the Spanish Sports press is the possible interest of FC BARCELONA in AC MILAN Brazilian International defender THIAGO SILVA. With Barça defender Gaby Milito leaving, Carles Puyol now a veteran with knee concerns & Adibal just recovered from cancer surgery, Barça needs a new signing for the defence & Silva Thiago  is the rumoured chosen one. The price is not cheap, around 25M€, & AC Milan will certainly have something to say in all this process.

To end with Barça, Cesc Fabregas keeps sounding for the midfield.

Soccer
Lass Diarra of Real Madrid

REAL MADRID is the Club that many consider is the next destination of Argentine International & Atletico de Madrid star SERGIO AGUERO, but his 45M€ + signing price means some current Real Madrid players will need to go in order to help finance the operation.

One of those tipped to leave is midfielder LASS DIARRA. Coach Mourinho wishes the Frenchman to stay, but Lass wants a permanent playing spot & with new signings Sahin & Antiltop coming, he sees himself sitting again on the bench next season more than he wishes. Thus, the player is seriously listening to offers from JUVENTUS & MANCHESTER UNITED, the latter being rumoured as a personal preference.

Sports
Gonzalo Higuain for Real Madrid

If Sergio Aguero was indeed to arrive ( not at all certain) to Real Madrid, the Club would have to let go one of its current forwards. Benzema is linked to Arsenal, but the Frenchmen does not wish to move & Adebayor looks like returning back to Manchester City if the latter does not drop the players 17M€ price tag to around 8M€. This leaves GONZALO HIGUAIN who has Italian Club JUVENTUS very interested & may make a "mega offer" to convince Real Madrid & player.

Said this, I doubt Higuain will leave & if I had to bet on a forward leaving the Club, I would bet on Adebayor at this moment. That is, if Sergio Aguero does fulfil the talk of many local media observers who say his next destination is Real Madrid.

Lastly, young Real Madrid midfielder SERGIO CANALES is sounding for Villareal & defender GARAY is sound for Benfica ( to help lower the cost of Benfica defender COENTRAO)

Stay tuned!

Didier Drogba Set For New Chelsea Contract

Didier Drogba is set to be handed a new contract by Chelsea.

The 33 year old Ivory Coast international was said to be ready to leave this summer after the £50million club record signing of Fernando Torres.

However a Blues insider told The Sun: “As soon as the new coach has been appointed one of the first things that will happen is that Didier signs a new extended deal.

“There’s no way the club want him to leave – he’s one of the best strikers in the world.”

Torres’ dismal form – just one goal in 12 games – means the Ivory Coast star, 33, is indispensable.

The insider added: “Can you imagine the outcry if Didier was sold and Torres continues to struggle? The decision’s been made – it’s better to keep both.”
