UEFA has handed in this afternoon their list of "The Ideal U-19 Europen Team" after the U-19 European Championships ended yesterday with SPAIN proclaiming its 5th title. In the "Best XI" there are three Spanish Football players: Alex Fernandez, Deulofeu & Morata. I personally miss another Spanish Football youngster who I thought deserved a mention in the name of Ruben Pardo, however the UEFA experts thought something else.

SERGIO AGUERO | SPANISH FOOTBALL ´S SHAKESPEARIAN TRAGEDY

SPANISH FOOTBALL has its own Shakespearian play underway with two stories full of drama, changing destiny, backstabbing, betrayal, rumour, lies & human suffering. One is Cesc Fabregas & his endevour to leave Arsenal & get to FC Barcelona, the other which is todays post,  SERGIO AGUERO & his desire to leave ATLETICO DE MADRID for rival REAL MADRID.

One day someone may decide to write a play about this true story,  & may even put it in the London "Westend" or the Madrid "Gran Via" to dramatize the tragedy of a Football player.

Sergio Aguero

It all began with the ambitious desires of a very talented & young Football player making a name for himself in a Spanish Football Club that wasn´t making the grade. There were moments of glory - the Europa League & Euro SuperCup - but the real aim & the place of potential champions is the European Champions League where "Golden Ball Players" are made & breed. This burning ambition & a family relative who is considered one of the greatest players in Football History (Maradona - father in law), pushes the player called SERGIO AGUERO to find his place on the Football Olympus.

His Club Atletico de Madrid open the door of his future by lowering his contract release clause from 65+M€ to 45M€ & a "verbal agreement" to listen to future offers if the money is right. Aguero begins to plan his future & begins talks with other potential Clubs, one being Real Madrid which made a formal offer in January 2011 which Atletico de Madrid refused. 


Here the first part of the tragedy, Atletico will sell to any Club except Real Madrid. As the Spanish League season continues Aguero puts in a "blinding" second half to save Atletico from a season disaster & put the Club in Euro places. Meanwhile his three player representatives, all of which are fighting between themselves & have diverse vested interests, are working hard to find a new "home" for Aguero,  a place that competes in the Champions League regularly & can offer a steady World Stage to allow the 23 year old to explode onward to Football stardom.



Argentine International, two time FIFA Golden Ball winner, FC Barcelona star & personal friend LIONEL MESSI transmits to Aguero that Barcelona are interested in his services. Real Madrid find out & quickly move to work so that this does not happen. Suddenly, Aguero & his future have a chance, a golden opportunity , with the two biggest Clubs in the World calling & fighting it out for you.



Advised by his representatives, his World Football God father-in-law, the comments of & from diverse inside influential "personalities" at Barça & Real Madrid & with Atletico in turmoil with in house power-battles, Sergio Aguero takes a "calculated" decision & makes his very brave & risky move. Before leaving for Argentina for the "Copa America" he attempts to meet Atletico de Madrid owner Gil Marin & President Cerezo to advise & announce that he has offers & that he wishes to leave. Not being able to see both Club Directives & under pressure from his "people" before leaving to fly off to Argentina, the player unilaterally announces that he is leaving the Club & will not be playing next season at Atletico , thus the Club should respect his wishes. 


A brave move as we still don´t know if Aguero had a firm (written - pre-contract) commitment from Barça or Real Madrid. In fact, as the events would show Barcelona found the 45M€ release clause too high & the petition of Atletico for their young star Thiago, Keita & Soriano was totally out of order. Barça changed strategy & focused on ALEXIS SANCHEZ of Italian Club Udinese. Real Madrid bulked inward at the aggressive reaction of Atletico de Madrid & the possibility of a mini "revolution" & inter-Club war & looked elsewhere in Brazil at NEYMAR. 


Suddenly, Sergio Aguero has found himself in no man´s land, his ships burnt with no way back home, with the life boats  Barça & Real Madrid disappearing from the horizon as puffs of smoke. A true tragedy & a real series of broken promises & betrayals that has left the player to the dogs. Bad calculation from Aguero? Without any doubt. Bad advise from his representatives? Totally. Naive? Yes. Inexperienced? Yes.


To fix this terrible situation, Aguero has had his team travelling Europe to find Clubs willing to put up 45M€ & thus be able to use that Club as a pressuring lever at Atletico to relax their demands & their violent fears,  & attempt to reignite the Real Madrid interest & stimulate their desires.

Italian Club Juventus showed real interest,  but would not go as high as 45M€  & Aguero did not wish to go to a Club not even in Europe next season. While from England Manchester City is willing to pay 45M€ to substitute Carlos Tevez ( almost certain departure) but Aguero does wish to leave Spain as his desire is Real Madrid. In conclusion a very delicate situation with a self made hole the size of the "Santiago Bernabeu" staduim.


Last news is that Sergio Aguero has bravely said yesterday that he is not going back to Atletico de Madrid, that he has already pronounced himself & that his people are working to find him a new "home". The only new "home" Aguero wants is Real Madrid, & if Real Madrid does not wish to break relations with Atletico de Madrid & have Neymar as their "star signing" objective, difficult solution I see here:

1. The Neymar operation fails - very doubtful its practically shut.
2. Real Madrid decides to sign Aguero against Atletico´s wishes & puts up 45M€
3. That Aguero ends up in a Club not of his desire out of pride & lack of options
4. Returns to Atletico, publically asks for forgiveness & be humilided.

except for point 2,  the rest is a true tragedy , a Modern Football Shakespearian play.

Stay tuned...the doors are not all shut & things can turn positively. Sergio Aguero has until the 31st of August to turn this bad & ugly situation - if he can -  into a dream,  or if not, into a nightmare.

Spanish Football Club MALAGA is turning out to be the big spender this summer in terms of signings putting the usual big buyers like Real Madrid , FC Barcelona, Atletico de Madrid, Valencia CF ...etc on a second & third level. But the news goes further, Italian paper "La Reppublica" publishes that INTER MILAN would look favourably with their "green-light" at a supposedly 35 - 40 M€ offer from Malaga. Being this the case, the final decision may well be up to WESLEY SNEIJDER who has reportedly interest from English Premier League Club Manchester United.

Said all this, one should take this news for what it is, a rumour at this stage with the need for further proof & more facts before one can really being to speculate about a possible return by Sneijder to Spanish Football.

What is beyond any doubt is that Malaga is going ahead with a very serious project & investing heavily to put themselves amongst the Spanish Football elite with European competition participation a prime objective. The list of other possible still to come signing candidates is long with Cazorla (Villareal) , Drogba (Chelsea FC) & Pastore (Palermo) all sounding as targets.

The media see how their newspapers sell less & TV Sports shows even that the time to go on holidays. The real creativity over the summer-break in Sports media departments is to figure out what the hell to publish or talk about the following day to get people "excited" & buy content. 

Andres Iniesta

The last pearl to stimulate excitement is a normal comment made in Italy by the son of AC MILAN owner Silvio Berlusconi, Pier, also Vice - President of the Italian multi-media group Mediaset. Pier says basically that if allowed to dream, FC Barcelona Andres Iniesta would be the player he would pick to play for AC MILAN. Fairly normal dream, I too if allowed to dream would want Iniesta at Atletico de Madrid,  & if Real Madrid President Perez was to dream he would see Iniesta at his Club. 


My surprise is to see this "having a coffee with Footy mates" comment splashed in local Spanish Sports papers "Marca",  "AS" & "Sport" & even in Italian press. Just to freeze any dreams other than hypothetical, Andres Iniesta is NOT GOING ANYWHERE, & less to AC Milan, at least not next season.

Lionel Messi To Break 60 Year-Old Spanish Scoring Record

Reports are out claiming that Lionel Messi is on the brink of breaking a 60 year-old Spanish scoring record.

The Barcelona star’s winner against Champions League opponents Shakhtar Donetsk was his 48th goal of the season.

Telmo Zarra scored the same number of goals in the 1950-51 campaign, but the Argentine international is likely to increase his tally and break the record during the remainder of the season.

Last season, Messi totalled 47 goals, matching the record set by Ferenc Puskas in a Real Madrid shirt in 1959-60 and also equalled the feat set by Ronaldo with Barcelona in 1996-97.

SPANISH FOOTBALL LEAGUE action tonight with all seven games left of Round 29 scheduled. Here is a brief summary of match events, the results & the scorers.

Racing - Real Sociedad

Great match between RACING DE SANTANDER & REAL SOCIEDAD with the home team taking the three points with a 2 - 1 result. A hard days work by both teams that saw individual actions sway things to one side or the other during the game. It was Racing that got ahead in the 42nd min via KENNEDY that "forced" Real Sociedad to risk more & look to equalize. Important win & three points for REAL SPORTING DE GIJON winning ALMERIA 1 - 0 thanks to the only goal from DE LAS CUEVAS early in the 13th min. Sporting breathe some relief as they  are fiercely fighting  to stay out of the relegation zone of the Spanish League ladder.

DEPORTIVO A CORUÑA lost at home to the much improved & positively transformed LEVANTE 0 - 1 with a last moment winner by RUBEN SUAREZ in the 90th min. A result that morally breaks your spirit as in the case of Deportivo who saw all their hard work slip in the end.

Hercules - Osasuna

Big goal scoring match with HERCULES receiving a "Football beating" by OSASUNA 0 - 4. The goals for the visitors came via CAMUÑAS in the 10th min, NELSON in the 35th min, VADOCZ in the 59th min & SOLA in the 67th min. No much to add, the score line says it all. So much so, that Hercules Coach Esteban Vigo was sacked after the match!

Rondon scores for Malaga FC

MALAGA FC finally got their act together & gave some joy to their fans after defeating 2 - 0 RCD ESPANYOL as they desperately fight to get out of the relegation zone of the Liga Ladder. Today they took a small step forward with Malaga player RONDON putting in a grand performance with two goals ( 7th min & 25th min) to help give Malaga three precious points.

Javi Martinez battles with Rossi of Villareal

ATLETICO DE BILBAO lost 0 -1 to VILLAREAL thanks to the visitors great goalkeeper Diego Lopez & their two Central Defenders Gonzalo & Musacchio, that stopped every Bilbao attack & neutralized the dangerous Bilbao forward Fernando Llorente.

Villareal left their attacking nature aside to brilliantly place a tactically defensive set up that frustrated & halted Bilbao the whole match. The winner came in the 58th min via M.RUBEN & it was enough to secure the victory.

Valencia Cf - Sevilla FC

VALENCIA CF lost 0 - 1 against SEVILLA FC & in doing so the 3rd place of the Spanish League table to Villareal. The home team played well & were very unlucky to not have at least finished with a draw. The game was action packed with three posts, Sevilla player Negredo in the 23rd min & then Valencia with Jonas in the 51st min & Mata in the 57th min hitting the "wood works".

The winner came for Sevilla via RAKITIC in the 70th min , while Tino Costa could have equalized for Valencia in the 93rd had he not missed a clear chance.  

The Spanish Football League takes a week break as the Spanish National Football Team has mid week & weekend Euro 2012 qualifying duties.

SPANISH LEAGUE - LA LIGA | ROUND 29 SATURDAY GAMES RESULTS

Three games of Round 29 scheduled down tonight  of the Spanish Football League that included the big Madrid derby. Here are "bullets" of events at the three grounds, the final results & the scorers.

Real Mallorca scores goal

REAL MALLORCA defeated REAL ZARAGOZA 1 - 0 from a brilliantly taken free-kick in the 67th min by DE GUZMAN from the semi circle. Before this, Zaragoza goalkeeper Doblas cuased the foul on Mallorca forward Webo which lead to a red card to Doblas & left his team down to ten men. Mallorca scored & punished Zaragoza & took the match. 

Dani Alves FC Barcelona

FC BARCELONA had pressure before their game to make secure of a victory with Real Madrid close behind on the Spanish League ladder & to put a smile on team-mate Abidal face who I´m sure was watching from hospital. The end result was a well worked 2 - 1 victory at home against GETAFE with a brief scare towards the end of the match for the home side.

DANI ALVES delivered a "missile" in the 16th min to set Barça on course. Barça controlled & created chances that were´nt fully taken.

Bojan scores for FC Barcelona

Then young BOJAN put back on a comfortable course his team with his 50th min goal. Things looked comfortable until the last part of the match when Getafe pulled one back via MANU DE MORAL in the 86th min that lifted the hopes of the visitors, but nothing came from their efforts. Finally, just a mention, good match by the Barça defenders Pique & Milito who worked very well together.

Barça maintain their 5 point advantage over Real Madrid on the classification table.

Benzema once again for Real Madrid

The 11 year "curse" continues with ATLETICO DE MADRID losing the big local derby 1 - 2 to REAL MADRID with now 21 straight derby games without a victory for Atletico. Although Real Madrid overall deserved to win the "man of the match" was Real Madrid goalkeeper IKER CASILLAS who made - if I have not lost count - 9 crucial game saving stops that kept out Atletico & assured his teams victory.


REAL MADRID got ahead first via in form & reborn Frenchmen KARIM BENZEMA who scored in the 11th min. From this point & for the next 20 mins Atletico de Madrid dominated totally & was stopped by Casillas on 5 occasions.



Then German OZIL returned the calmness to his team with a majestic 32nd min goal that knocked the wind out of Atletico.

The second half was mostly dominated by Real Madrid which created chances but did not convert. Then in a radical change of events & after Real Madrid had substituted Benzema, Roanldo & Lass Diarra, Argentine forward & Atletico de Madrid player SERGIO AGUERO was finally rewarded for all his hard work with a 86th min goal. The next 8 mins was Atletico attempting the equalizer with Madrid against the ropes, but the visitors held out to take another derby.

Real Madrid stay in touch - 5 points - with FC Barcelona. Atletico, well, maybe next season.

Spanish Football action today with three games down as part of Round 29 of La Liga. Spanish government hopes to avert strike

Joe Kiddle is tipping goals when Bayern Munich host Inter Milan in the Champions League tonight…



The Spanish government is confident that the league would withdraw its threat to postpone a round of matches next month, the secretary of state for sport said.



The Spanish Football League (FLP), which represents first and second division clubs, has been in talks with the government to scrap a rule that one La Liga game per matchday be shown on free-to-air television, in time for the start of the 2012-13 season.



“It isn't a strike, it's a lock out,” Jaime Lissavetzky told reporters.



“In the end, I think through dialogue, common sense, and by working together it can be overcome. With maximum respect for the LFP and clubs I'm not going to say anything that may disrupt this process.



“I'm always optimistic. When the players threatened a strike there was an extraordinary effort by everyone (to avoid it).”



The clubs have the backing of the Spanish football federation (RFEF) as they seek to strengthen their position in negotiating television rights.



The league also wants guarantees about how much cash they are entitled to receive from betting and lottery revenue.



On the weekend under threat, April 2-3, leaders Barcelona are scheduled to visit Villarreal while second-placed Real Madrid host Sporting Gijon.

GETAFE 2 ATHLETIC DE BILBAO 2 | ROUND 28 SPANISH FOOTBALL MONDAY GAME RESULT

SPANISH FOOTBALL action this Monday night with the closing of the Round 28 clash of LA LIGA under some terrible weather conditions here in Madrid. Here is a brief run down of tonights events, the result & scorers.

Young Muniain for At Bilbao against Getafe

GETAFE played host to ATHLETIC DE BILBAO in a final 2 - 2 draw result game that went crazy in the last half hour when all four goals appeared, plus a "hat-trick" from Getafe player MANU DEL MORAL that included an own goal.

Manu del Moral for Getafe

Lets jump straight into the 68th min when Getafe scored first & got ahead via MANU DEL MORAL. One minute later MANU DE MORAL scores again but in his own goal equalizing for Bilbao. The man was on a "mission" to make up for his mistake & MANU DE MORAL scored a second for Getafe in the 84th min. Everyone was happy at Getafe until in the very last moment Bilbao equalized with a goal from URKO VERA.

Getafe Coach Michel is not happy at all as Getafe played better overall & allowed Bilbao to get back. Getafe need wins if they are to avoid the "relegation syndrome" & this is not the way to go about things.

SPANISH FOOTBALL SATURDAY ROUND 28 GAMES RESULTS | LA LIGA

SPANISH FOOTBALL action today with three games of LA LIGA that belong to Round 28 with the following briefs, results & scorers. 

Almeria - Atletico de Madrid 

ALMERIA are in a risky situation hoovering in the relegation zone of the Spanish League ladder, while ATLETICO DE MADRID need wins to get into the upper zone & attempt their planned objective of a Champions League position. Todays result was a 2 - 2 draw which was better for Almeria & disappointing for Atletico.

Atletico started on fire & scored first via SERGIO AGUERO in the 38th min to give great signs in the first half. However, once again defensive mistakes & concentration lapses  made Atletico pay & Almeria equalized in the 48th min via CRUSAT. Atletico de Madrid reacted & put themselves ahead again in the 60th min with another goal from SERGIO AGUERO which put the Madrid team back on course. But, another defensive mistake allowed GOITOM to equalize for ALMERIA again in the 76th min & it stay this way until the end of the match.

Karim Benzema again protagonist for Real Madrid 

REAL MADRID CF with Carvalho, Pepe, Xabi & Roanldo resting for the mid week Champions League match defeated HERCULES  2 - 0 in a very comfortable fashion. The visitors looked better during the first half with flashes but faded out during the second half to turn it into a monologue for Madrid.

The highlight was KARIM BENZEMA who continues his personal metamorphosis with two goals tonight with more signals that his time may be finally arriving at last. He put in his first in the 24th min & then his second in the 55th min. His "partner in crime" Adebayor missed some clear chances that could have added to the score line but was unlucky & could not join the Benzema party.

A solid team performance that now awaits to see how FC Barcelona does tomorrow against Sevilla Fc & if they can cut back the gap with Barça on the League table,  & now with their collective team mind firmly focused on the mid week clash with Lyon in Champions League

Jarosik for Real Zaragoza

REAL ZARAGOZA are deep in their own particular battle to get away from the relegation zone & made an important advance tonight defeating VALENCIA CF 4 - 0. Real Zaragoza played a superb match & were far the better team, while Valencia looked "lost" & "out of place" suggesting that their elimination from Champions League by Schalke 04 mid week had left its effects on the minds & body of the Valencia players.

Zaragoza got ahead very early with a header from JAROSIK in the 4th min & just kept getting better & better. ANDER HERRERA scored the second in the 39th min from a Uche pass when the former broke apart the Valencia defence & scored under the goalies legs.

Things got worst in the second half for Valencia when a penalty was called in the 63rd min that lead to a red card to Valencia CF defender Stankevicius to which GABI converted for the Zaragoza third goal 2 mins later. With Valencia down to 10 men & Zaragoza on a rampage the fourth goal came via another penalty to which GABI again converted in the 74th min.

While others like Oscar, Sergi Gomez & Rafa Alcantara has already tasted the "B level" this season. The main objective for the team now is to finish the rest of the four rounds left of their season undefeated...difficult, but possible.

Another success story from the FC Barcelona "factory" ( La Masia ). One can understand why most of Europe´s biggest Clubs are sending scouts & "talking" with the Barça youngsters.

HOLA RAUL | SCHALKE 04 SPANISH FOOTBALL PLAYER WINS THE HEARTS OF THE GERMAN FANS

Spanish Football Players have historically been very timid in their majority in leaving home shores to play elsewhere in Europe, the language & the cultural difficulties have often been cited as importante causes.

That has all changed in the last few years with many Football players going & currently playing in the English Premier League, the Budesliga, Greece, Russia, Italy, Turkey...etc. The fact is that many are doing quiet well indeed for themselves & with their team becoming local stars & heroes.

So much is the adoration towards some Spanish born players overseas that "field chants - songs" have been created by the local fans to cheer them on, the most recent famous example being Liverpool with their ode to Fernando Torres with the local super-hit "Liverpool´s Nº9" before leaving to Chelsea.

Now we have another song getting on the "airwaves" from German team fans SCHALKE 04 & towards their Spanish foward , ex - Real Madrid Captain, RAUL GONZALEZ BLANCO. Spanish musician Rafael de Alcala & German Forster Volker have recorded "HOLA RAUL". Apparently it is a local hit!

The song is the least of the news, great to hear obviously, but not the main point. The caption is that RAUL has settled in nicely with his new Club, has won the hearts of the Schalke 04 fans & is again enjoying playing Football & added to this, is still creating milestones. Thats the big & good news, great story & happy fun song at that...
