Steven Gerrard Glad He Stayed With Liverpool

Steven Gerrard has admitted that he is happy he chose to stay at Anfield.

Footballing giants Chelsea and Real Madrid have tried to prise the England international away from Liverpool.

Gerrard told Goals on Sunday: “It’s been well-documented that it’s turned my head at times when clubs have been interested in me, but now looking back I’m just glad I did make the right decisions.

“The feeling you get when you’re a local lad and you win a trophy, and you see your people, your family and friends joining in and celebrating with you – it’s unbeatable. It’s better than winning trophies where you’re not local.”

Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard has undergone surgery on his groin and will be sidelined for up to four weeks.

""LFC can today confirm that Steven Gerrard has undergone successful surgery on his groin and will be out for up to four weeks," a club statement read on Friday.

"The decision was made following consultation with a specialist.

The England midfielder was left out of Liverpool's squad which travelled to Braga for Thursday's Europa League defeat.

It means Gerrard will miss next week's return meeting with Braga at Anfield as well as the Premier League clash at Sunderland next Sunday.

Gerrard will also be unavailable for England's Euro 2012 qualifier with Wales and the friendly with Ghana later this month.

The midfielder suffered the injury in the 1-0 win against Chelsea on 6 February at Stamford Bridge.

The news is a blow for Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish, whose side are currently sixth in the Premier League with nine matches left. The Reds also face a tough task to make the quarter-finals in the Europa League. They have to overturn a 1-0 deficit when they play Braga in the second leg at Anfield next Thursday.
