Manchester City defender Joleon Lescott has declared that the club cannot continue to rely on Carlos Tevez for inspiration.
The Eastlands clubs are set to take on Championship side Reading in the quarter-finals of the Cup today, and the England international defender believes that is is time for others to step up to the plate.
The former Everton defender said : “Carlos has been immense this season,”.
“His talent always seems to shine through and that’s why he’s our captain.
“Carlos isn’t a screamer and shouter. He is someone who leads by example and his attitude to the game is exceptional.
“Carlos is a player you look at and he can inspire you. He works so hard that he carries you along and for me he would be a worthy Footballer of the Year. But we are all professionals and experienced players here at City and we need to start setting our own standards.
“We can’t keeping looking to him to do it for us.”
