Newcastle United 1-1 Sunderland Highlights Video 2012 March

A huge game for both the sides as Sunderland take on Newcastle united in the Tyne side derby and this is a game which holds a great significance in the English football. Newcastle united have been playing really well in the league this season, although their form has kind of taken a dip but they are still a strong side and they will be looking to keep the good run of form going against a very difficult Sunderland side who are starting to play good football towards the end of the season.

If we look at the past 5 meetings between the two teams, we can see that Newcastle United are the better side of the two, they have won 3 matches in the last 5 games between the two while remaing two games were drawn and they are very strong at home that makes them the favourite for this game.

Newcastle United have dropped points in the last two games, first they got hammered by Spurs in the league by 5-0 and than they drew their game Wolves and they will be eager to get back to track when they host Sunderland who got into the quarterfinals of the FA Cup and coming into this game on the back of a defeat against West Brom.

Watch: Arsenal 2 - 1 Sunderland

Arsenal won a precious three points at the Emirates against Sunderland thanks to a great double by their captain and talisman, Robin van Persie.

The Dutch master opened the scoring in the 29th second, giving the whole team and fans at the ground an almighty early boost amidst their poor start to the season. However, despite dominating the game from there on in, Sunderland were allowed back into the game when Mikel Arteta conceded a free-kick just outside the area.

Who would step up, but former Arsenal boy, Sebastian Larsson, who curled an absolute beauty into the top corner, unstoppably passing Sczcesny in the Arsenal goal. It was a blow, but a blow that Arsenal have become used to this season. They carried on as they were after a shaky few minutes, and at last got their reward through the quite fantastic Robin van Persie.

He had narrowly missed scoring an absolute stunner of a goal early in the first half with a sublime chip which hit the post, but the winner was scored with all of the power, pace and accuracy that is contained in that wondrous left foot of his. Enjoy the goals below:

Bayern Munich Chasing Sunderland Striker Asamoah Gyan

Reports are out claiming that German giants Bayern Munich are lining up a bid for Sunderland striker Asamoah Gyan.

The 25 year old Ghana international has enjoyed a successful first season in England this term.

It is said that Bayern Munich are hoping the attraction of playing in the Champions League will prove too much for Gyan and they can secure his signature at the end of the season.

German sources claim that Bayern are prepared to better the £13 million Sunderland paid Rennes last summer for Gyan.

Manchester City 5-0 Sunderland – Match Highlights

Manchester City moved up to third place in the Premier League table with a 5-0 drubbing of Sunderland at the City of Manchester Stadium.

Adam Johnson scored just nine minutes into his first start for the club since January before Carlos Tevez doubled City’s lead on the quarter-hour mark with a penalty he had won himself.

David Silva and Patrick Vieira then scored in quick succession midway through the second half before Yaya Toure added the fifth to compound Sunderland’s misery.

The win means City took full advantage of Chelsea’s draw at Stoke on Saturday, and they moved above the champions and into third place, the last of the qualification spots for the Champions League proper.

Sunderland’s alarming slide down the table continues. Having taken just one point from the last 21 available to them they remain 12th in the table, just six points off relegation after looking like candidates for Europe not so long ago.

Watch Manchester City v Sunderland – LIVE Football Stream

Sunday April 3, 2011 Kick off: 16:00 Day 31 The City of Manchester Stadium

Defenders Micah Richards and Jerome Boateng will both be missing as Manchester City resume their quest for a Champions League spot. Richards injured a hamstring on England Under-21 duty a week ago and is out for at least a fortnight, while Boateng faces six weeks on the sidelines once he has knee surgery in the next few days. Pablo Zabaleta is unlikely to be available after a trip to Argentina to visit his ill father.

Sunderland boss Steve Bruce will be boosted by the return of long-term absentees Fraizer Campbell and Michael Turner. Striker Campbell has not made a senior appearance since damaging his knee in the home clash with City on August 29, while central defender Turner has also been sidelined by a knee injury since November 22. Phil Bardsley (knee) and Sulley Muntari (calf) are expected to be fit, while John Mensah is available after his red card against Liverpool was rescinded. Kieran Richardson (hamstring) is a doubt and Nedum Onuoha is ineligible under the terms of his loan agreement, while David Meyler (knee) remains on the sidelines.

Blackburn, Everton, Sunderland Chasing Niko Kranjcar

Tottenham’s want-away midfielder Niko Kranjcar is reportedly being tracked by a host of Premier League clubs.

The Daily Mail has revealed that Blackburn Rovers, Everton and Sunderland are monitoring the Croatia international’s situation, given his desire to leave Tottenham this summer.

Spartak Moscow and Liverpool have also watched the midfielder, 26, who has started only two Premier League games this season.

When asked where he would like to move to, Kranjcar said: “Depends who wants me, if anyone wants me.”

Kranjcar, who turns 27 in August, added: “I’m ambitious, I want to play football.

“Especially in my best years. If I was a young lad, obviously I would wait for my chance, especially being in a big club like Spurs.

“But, obviously, 27, 28, 29 years is, I think, the best footballing years.

“Everyone knows I can play at the highest level, week in week out … I’ll only come on as a sub (at the moment).”

Sunderland 0-2 Liverpool – Match Highlights

A controversial penalty and a superb Luis Suarez strike helped Liverpool beat Sunderland 2-0 at the Stadium of Light.

The livewire Uruguayan was ultimately the star of the show, but he did also appear to tweak his hamstring in the final minute and was immediately withdrawn.

For Sunderland, though, it was a truly nightmarish afternoon as they saw Sulley Muntari and Kieran Richardson both go off injured before the 22nd minute, and then had John Mensah sent-off eight minutes from time.

Watch: Sunderland 0 - 2 Liverpool

Dirk Kuyt Penalty:

Luis Suarez Goal:

Liverpool added another three valuable points to their tally under Kenny Dalglish with a good win against a Sunderland side who were rather unlucky throughout the match. Despite being the home side, many decisions went against the team in red and white stripes much to the vocal displeasure of the Sunderland fans. Injuries were also a factor with both Sulley Muntari and Kieran Richardson being substituted with knocks within the first 20 minutes.

The opening goal came as a result of a penalty. Originally awarded as a free-kick outside the box by the referee, he changed is mind after being prompted by his linesman. The outrage from the Sunderland manager Steve Bruce was evident, and his mood wasn't improved when Kuyt expertly slotted the ball into the corner of Mignolet's net.

There were however no questions asked about the second. Luis Suarez gave aother glimpse of what is to come inhs Liverpool career with a super strike from an impossible angle toseal the game and take the three points back to Anfield. Later he was subjct of a last man challenge from John Mensah which saw the defendr given a straight red to compounds Sunderland's misery.

Liverpool bounced back from the mid week loss and ejection from the Europa League, and continue some good form in the Premier League.
