THREE SPANISH U-19 FOOTBALL PLAYERS IN UEFA "BEST XI"

UEFA has handed in this afternoon their list of "The Ideal U-19 Europen Team" after the U-19 European Championships ended yesterday with SPAIN proclaiming its 5th title. In the "Best XI" there are three Spanish Football players: Alex Fernandez, Deulofeu & Morata. I personally miss another Spanish Football youngster who I thought deserved a mention in the name of Ruben Pardo, however the UEFA experts thought something else.

Rio Ferdinand Disgusted With Diving Barcelona Players

Reports are out claiming that Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand was disgusted by the diving of Barcelona players last night against Real Madrid.

Daniel Alves’ play-acting resulted in Pepe being sent off, while Pedro was also an embarrassment.

Barcelona’s Pedro fell to the ground clutching his face after a harmless collision with Alvaro Arbeloa in the first half.

Ferdinand tweeted: “This diving is a joke/embarrassing. When Pedro watches that do you think he’ll think ‘What was I doing!?’”

Rangnick hails players

Schalke coach Ralf Rangnick praised his players after the German side knocked holders Inter out of the Champions League.

The German side secured their place in the final four for the first time in their history with a 2-1 win on Wednesday night to go through 7-3 on aggregate.

Schalke will now face Manchester United in the semi-finals and Ragnick was delighted with his side's two performances against Inter.

"We've produced two great performances," said Rangnick.

"If you only allow the Champions League winners a couple of chances, you know you have played well.

"Each player worked hard for each other and that was the key to our success."

"A semi-final in the Champions League is something extraordinary for all of us and against Manchester United we will start in a similar position to how we began against Inter: as clear outsiders.

"But again, anything can happen and if it all goes to plan we can reach the final. First we have to produce some good results in the Bundesliga to give us a boost: with every positive result our Champions League chances improve."

Meanwhile, Schalke's veteran striker Raul, who opened the scoring on Wednesday, admits he is allowing himself to dream of a return to the final.

"It's incredible - a great moment. It's great to be part of this team," he said. "With so many new players having arrived, to find ourselves rubbing shoulders with the best three teams in Europe is hugely satisfying.

"We will try to enjoy this situation but we know we will have to work hard over the next two weeks to prepare for the semi-finals.

"We have won twice against the reigning European club champions; we were the better side in both games and now we must face a really complicated semi-final against Manchester United. We have to get it out of our heads that we are playing a big team like United and believe that we can reach the final, even though we won't be favourites."

Interesting news are it and it has been reported that Juventus are interested in signing Atletico Madrid striker Sergio Aguero for the summer market.

Gazzetta dello Sport has reported that Juve chiefs are convinced that the Spanish club is ready to cash in on Aguero, whose form has fallen flat this season – his fifth with the Madrid giants.

It is believed that the Turin giants plan to use players in their bid to bring down Atletico’s €35 million asking price.

It is said that the Bianconeri will allow Tiago to sign permanently with Atletico and also include Vincenzo Iaquinta in exchange for Argentina international Aguero.

Barcelona To Sell Players To Fund Fabregas Bid

It has been revealed that Spanish champions FC Barcelona are ready to sell in order to fund a bid for Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas.

The Mirror has reported that the Catalan giants insist privately they are undecided on whether to pursue another crack at signing the Arsenal captain this summer.

However coach Pep Guardiola, president Sandro Rosell and sporting director Andoni Zubizarreta are due to meet to discuss whether to renew their interest.

Barcelona have a frosty relationship with Arsenal and Arsene Wenger will try and resist any attempts by the Spanish club to sign Fabregas who is under contract until 2005.

But Barcelona are ready to clear the decks by selling off Alexander Hleb (currently on loan at Birmingham), full back Maxwell and Seydou Keita.

That would free up funds to make a big money move and Guardiola is massively in favour of signing Fabregas.
