Catania 1-4 Lazio – Match Highlights

Lazio strengthened their grip on fourth place in Serie A with a convincing victory at Catania this afternoon.

Hernanes put Lazio ahead before half-time before Matias Ezequiel Schelotto equalised soon after the re-start.

Stefano Mauri then put Lazio back in front in the 56th minute and Sergio Floccari made it 3-1 with 12 minutes remaining.

Substitute Mauro Zarate capped off a wonderful afternoon for the visitors at the Angelo Massimino Stadium by adding his team’s fourth one minute from time.

The result has left Lazio holding on to the last Champions League qualifying spot.

The Romans are four points clear of Udinese, who take on Napoli this evening.

Napoli 4-3 Lazio – Match Highlights

Edinson Cavani scored his fourth hat-trick of the season as Napoli beat Lazio 4-3 to move up to second in Serie A.

In a sunny Stadio San Paolo the home team made the brighter start and could have taken the lead within four minutes. Ezeguiel Lavezzi’s low cross was cut out by goalkeeper Nestor Muslera just before Marek Hamsik could get his boot to it.

Hamsik also had the first real chance of the match when his shot from a tight angle in the penalty area was well saved by Muslera after 20 minutes.

Napoli’s home form has been brilliant this season and Lazio’s away form has been equally poor. Edoardo Reja’s team had only managed to score nine goals away from home all season so when they broke the deadlock it was very much against the run of play.

Roma 2-0 Lazio – Match Highlights

AS Roma bounced back from the disappointment of a midweek Champions League exit to emerge as 2-0 victors in the Rome derby at the Stadio Olimpico.

The evergreen Francesco Totti was Roma’s hero once more as it was his two second half goals that proved to be the difference between the sides in a tense encounter.

After falling behind in the 70th minute, Lazio hit the self destruct button with both Stefan Radu and Cristian Ledesma given their marching orders before Totti secured the bragging rights in Rome with his second from the penalty spot in added time.

The victory is Roma’s fifth consecutive in derby matches and ensures that Vincenzo Montella’s unbeaten league record as Roma boss remains intact after four games.
