ATLETICO DE MADRID PRESENTS ADRIAN | HAPPY ENDING TO A LONG STORY

A SPANISH FOOTBALL story with a good ending. Young Spanish U-21 International , European U-21 Champion, European U-21 Golden Boot & ex newly relegated to 2º Division Deportivo A Coruña forward ADRIAN LOPEZ has finally made his desires a reality by signing with ATLETICO DE MADRID.

Spanish Football
Spanish Football Player Adrian Lopez

The player finished contract this year & after Deportivo gave no signs of wishing to renew his contract Adrian Lopez signed with Atletico de Madrid. Then without notice & with a unilateral decision Deportivo communicated to Atletico that they had renewed the players contract & thus called for a transfer fee. This "shock" announcement was taken to the courts while Adrian Lopez played for Spain in the U-21 European Champions where he scored 5 goals & took the "Golden Boot Award".

The court gave its final & decisive verdict yesterday in favour of Adrian & Atletico which opened the road to sign for the Madrid Club

This afternoon Atletico de Madrid presented to National media their new player as seen in the above picture with Adrian proudly hold his new Club shirt. From here I welcome the player to Atletico - a very "special" Club - & wish him all the success in the World.

Nice end to a long Football & personal story.

JUVENTUS RAISES ITS OFFER TO 40M€ FOR ATLETICO DE MADRID SERGIO AGUERO

spanish football
Italian Club JUVENTUS really puts their money where their mouth is, something admirable in the rumour & gossip Football World. The Italian Football Club announced weeks back that ATLETICO DE MADRID Argentine forward SERGIO AGUERO was their "Top Priority" for the new upcoming season & they are not taking a NO for an answer. According to Italian Sports paper "La Gazzetta dello Sport" today Juventus will raise their initial offer of 35M€ to 40M€ for the Atletico player. They even go further & insinuate that there is an initial agreement with the player for 7.5M€/season net + bonuses & a 5 year contract. This last piece of news will need to be verified as I am not too sure that it is the case.

Spanish Football
Sergio Aguero
Atletico de Madrid may accept the offer as they are willing to sell to any Club with a good offer other than Real Madrid. However, the final word is with the player & local press information makes everybody believe that Sergio Aguero wishes to play at Real Madrid.

Some observers are speculating that Aguero wrongly anticipated himself in declaring that he wished to leave Atletico &/or was badly advised by his close circle to make the initial move without a firm "in the hand" agreement from Real Madrid. The player is currently perplexed & frustrated in attempting to understand why REAL MADRID has not yet made their move & put forward a genuine offer.

The player is now in a very sticky situation:

  • he accepts the Juventus offer, an option never in his plans & with a team that will not be playing in European competition next season
  • he waits for the Real Madrid move & offer , which may never come due to the blacklash from Atletico fans & possible broken relations with the Atletico Club
  • puts his head in between his tail & returns to Atletico de Madrid to stay another season
This last option would be a disaster for the player with is image & prestige with fans on the floor, & with a  the Club wishes to sell but not to Real Madrid,  the Club of Aguero´s desires.

Thus a very complex situation with still lots to be written & reported before we all finally know for sure the destination of Sergio Aguero for next season. All I can say now is that the only firm offer that Aguero has is from Juventus & it is in the range his Club is willing to accept. Whether Aguero - the player - accepts the Juventus offer or not is still to be seen,  but it is not impossible. I presume that there is lots of thinking to be done by Aguero.

ATLETICO DE MADRID OFFERS 30M€ TO VILLAREAL FOR ROSSI - DIEGO LOPEZ

Seems like ATLETICO DE MADRID is finally accepting the inevitable, that their star forward   Sergio Aguero will be leaving the Club. Things are not all bad, if an alternative Club comes along & pays 45M€ imagine what "goodies" you can buy in the transfer market to cover the absense.

Spanish Soccer
Villareal player Rossi

Atletico are apparently working on how to best invest a possible 45M€ income bonus & two names are now "hot" in the SPANISH FOOTBALL rumour treadmill. According to Spanish Sports paper "Marca" Atletico is willing to give VILLAREAL 30M€ for goalkeeper DIEGO LOPEZ ( to cover the gap left by De Gea) & for Italian International forward ROSSI. The last mentioned player was linked earlier this year with FC Barcelona, but that option has evaporated into thin air.

My first impression is that 30M€ is a bit "cheap" for both players, as Villareal have previously told Barça that just Rossi was valued at 30M€. My initial thought is that Atletico may have to raise a bit the offer if they are to snatch both players. Having said this, I think both are outstanding & great value for Atletico, especially Rossi whom scored 19 goals last season & is definitely "World class" material.

You see, there is life & future beyond & after Aguero if he does finally leave. Stay tuned.

Atletico Madrid Deny Manchester United Deal For David De Gea

Atletico Madrid chief Miguel Angel Gil Marin has revealed that there is no deal with Manchester United over the sale of goalkeeper David De Gea.

Onda Cero reported agent Jorge Mendes had travelled to England and reached an agreement with the Premier League giants that will see the 20-year-old Spanish goalkeeper join the Red Devils for a fee of 25million euros (£22.5m).

However, speaking to Spanish newspaper AS, Atletico’s chief executive Angel Gil said: “Mendes is in England, but it is for nothing related to De Gea. He doesn’t have any power from Atletico to negotiate for the player.

“At the end of the season we will see if (De Gea) he goes or if he remains. If he wants to go, we will refer to his buy-out clause. As of today, Atletico count on him for next season.”

Osasuna 2-3 Atletico Madrid – Match Highlights

Osasuna 2-3 Atletico Madrid – Match Highlights[ 0 ] April 4, 2011 [Translate]

Diego Costa’s assured hat-trick guided Atletico Madrid to a deserved 3-2 victory in an enthralling Primera Division encounter at Osasuna.

Atletico have been on a poor run and that sequence looked set to continue as Osasuna bossed the opening exchanges and deservedly went ahead through Kike Sola on 31 minutes.

But after that it was all one-way traffic as Brazilian striker Diego Costa took centre stage, slamming home his first shortly before the interval and adding a quickfire brace in the second half.

Javad Nekounam pulled one back for the hosts from the penalty spot but Osasuna’s hopes were ended late on when Sergio saw red for violent conduct.

Forlan content at Atletico

Diego Forlan says he is content at Atletico Madrid at the club and insists it would take "a really good offer" to prise him away from the Vicente Calderon.

Forlan, 31, was heavily linked with a move away from Atletico after impressing in last summer's World Cup for Uruguay.

The former Manchester United forward was again the subject of speculation in the January transfer window, with Tottenham among a number of clubs reportedly interested in signing him.

But again Forlan remained at Atletico and he says he has no desire to leave the club.

"It would have to be a really good offer," Forlan said. "At the moment there is none, so I didn't consider anything. But at the moment, I have two years more of a contract at Atletico Madrid and it's a good team and I am happy there. You never know."

Forlan has scored 128 Primera Divison goals since he arrived at Villarreal in 2004 following a disappointing spell at Old Trafford.

LILILE PLAYER GERVINHO HEADING TO ATLETICO DE MADRID ?

Ivory Coast winger & French Club LILLE player GERVINHO has not as yet signed his renewal contract offer. This has been interpreted, especially by Spanish Sports press, that the player is seriously considering an apparent offer from Spanish Club ATLETICO DE MADRID.

Spanish League

The speculated price is around 10M€ & Lille would welcome the injection of cash. The forward is powerful, can play in various forward positions & even as a Centre Forward if needed. Stay tuned for developments.

Said this, there is another message not explicitly mentioned. What goes in goes out, therefore could that be Forlan, Aguero...or?

The last time Atletico de Madrid defeated Real Madrid was on the 30th of October in 1999 with a 3 - 1 score-line.

ATLETICO DE MADRID 2011 | NEWS BRIEFS

Here are some quick ATLETICO DE MADRID news pieces for all the fans spread across the globe

Spanish Football
Diego Forlan

Its no secret that Atletico de Madrid foward DIEGO FORLAN is not happy at the Club. The man has been trying to leave for the last year, to such extent that he even offered himself to arch rival Real Madrid earlier in the year. The man has again expressed his discontent to Italian Sports daily "La Gazzetta dello Sport" saying that if an offer came from Italy & the Club could benefit, he would like to leave.

The man is a walking "billborad for Sale" & this is not too good for the team as they struggle to get into Champions League positions in La Liga. The "alley way" comments is that Diego Forlan has always put his interests ahead of the team, including problems with his Coach & his fellow team-mates rumoured to have agreed at some stage not to pass him the ball. This last point is extremely hard to believe, but I do think its significant & the best thing is that Forlan depart the Club for a good price. This season his perormance has been non-existent, perhaps influenced by his "low motivation".

Spanish Soccer
David De Gea

Once again rumours from England - newspaper "The Daily Mail" - places Atletico de Madrid young wonder goalkeeper DAVID DE GEA in the orbit of MANCHESTER UNITED. According to the story Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has placed the Spanish player as a top priority to replace their veteran goalkeeper Van der Sar. The rumour is that the English Club is preparing a 18M€ offer to attempt to convince Atletico. Stay tuned!

From a personal perspective that I wish to share with my fellow Atletico de Madrid followers, what kind of team will Atletico have next season? If, & if, all the rumours & speculations come true & Forlan, De Gea & Sergio Aguero leave...?
