Tottenham Want Ezequiel Lavezzi As Napoli Chase Wilson Palacios

Transfer news from the Serie A is out and it has been reported that Napoli are chasing Tottenham midfielder Wilson Palacios.

According to The London Evening Standard, Palacios has become a target for Italian club Napoli as Tottenham seek to streamline their squad for next season.

It is said that Napoli coach Walter Mazzarri is a huge admirer of the Honduran midfielder.

Having qualified for next season’s Champions League, the Italian side are said to be keen to strengthen their squad and have also targeted Sampdoria’s Angelo Palombo to reinforce central midfield.

It is believed that Napoli are unlikely to offer more than £7m for Palacios but sources in Italy also claim that Tottenham have shown an interest in Napoli’s Argentine forward Ezequiel Lavezzi, meaning a player-plus-cash deal would be an option.

Napoli 1-1 Inter Milan – Match Highlights

Napoli will return to the Champions League next term after earning the point they needed from a 1-1 draw with Internazionale in Serie A.

Napoli finish third in Serie A while Leonardo’s Inter are assured of second spot in the table ahead of next weekend’s final round of matches.

Samuel Eto’o smacked home the opening goal for the visitors from distance on 17 minutes, but a mistake in the Inter defence enabled Juan Zuniga to pounce and stab home the equaliser a minute into stoppage time in the first half.

The second half was a non-event after an enjoyable first period with both teams content to sit back and settle for the draw.

Edinson Cavani Denies Napoli Exit Rumours

Good news for all Napoli fans as Edinson Cavani has denied that he is planning to leave Napoli.

There’s talk of the Uruguay international wanting a move away if he doesn’t get a new contract at Napoli.

Cavani however said : “There is nothing true in all these rumours. It’s all ridiculous. I’m not changing my club or my agent,”.

“With Uruguay we reached the World Cup quarter-finals. I don’t know where we can end up with Napoli, but we’ll certainly do everything we can to soar as high as possible.

“What I feel for the Napoli jersey and these fans is exceptional and I think if one day I were to play somewhere else, I could never feel the same way.”

Barcelona Chasing Napoli Defender Victor Ruiz

Reports are out claiming that Barcelona are aiming to bring another of their graduates back to the club.

Italian club Napoli have confirmed an approach from the Spanish champions for 22 year old defender Victor Ruiz.

The Spanish centre back only moved to Naples last summer from Espanyol and is a former Barca junior.

“I confirm that the Catalan club has asked for the Spanish defender and this is something rewarding for us. It’s recognition for Victor and for our work,” said Napoli sports chief Riccardo Bigon.

Cavani not for sale - Napoli

Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has once again ruled out the possibility of selling Edinson Cavani at the end of the season.

The Uruguay international scored a hat-trick in the Partenopei's 4-3 comeback victory over Lazio in Serie A on Sunday afternoon that saw them close the gap on leaders Milan to three points.

Cavani joined Napoli from Palermo last summer and having scored 25 Serie A goals this season he has been linked with a move away from the club.

De Laurentiis was quoted by Sky Sports as saying: "How much is Cavani worth? Cavani is priceless. He is not for sale. I wouldn't sell him for €100 million.

"For now his mission is to fight for the colours of Napoli. If I say he is worth a lot, hopefully people will tire of asking about him.”

De Laurentiis also revealed Inter's interest in midfielder Marek Hamsik and stated: "Once [Inter patron Massimo] Moratti phoned me to ask about [Marek] Hamsik but I told him that he wasn't moving and Moratti promised that he would not ask about any more players."

Napoli 4-3 Lazio – Match Highlights

Edinson Cavani scored his fourth hat-trick of the season as Napoli beat Lazio 4-3 to move up to second in Serie A.

In a sunny Stadio San Paolo the home team made the brighter start and could have taken the lead within four minutes. Ezeguiel Lavezzi’s low cross was cut out by goalkeeper Nestor Muslera just before Marek Hamsik could get his boot to it.

Hamsik also had the first real chance of the match when his shot from a tight angle in the penalty area was well saved by Muslera after 20 minutes.

Napoli’s home form has been brilliant this season and Lazio’s away form has been equally poor. Edoardo Reja’s team had only managed to score nine goals away from home all season so when they broke the deadlock it was very much against the run of play.

Jeremy Menez Open To Napoli Switch

Interesting news are out and it has been reported that the agent of AS Roma midfielder Jeremy Menez has invited an offer from Napoli.

The France international has been linked with a move to Juventus, but agent Alain Migliaccio revealed other plans.

“If an offer were to come from Napoli, we could talk about it,” he told Radio Crc.

“Napoli have a very good Coaching staff, the directors work well and I am convinced they can find the right players to bring to the city.

“At the moment everything is just gossip,” he added in Calciomercato.it. “Menez is owned by Roma and has a contract until 2012, so we’ll see what happens at the end of the season.

“If the club and Coach do not want him, then we’ll have to evaluate the situation, but if he does leave then it will not be his doing.

“We have never talked about preferences, but he really likes Serie A, so a call from a big club could well keep him in Italy.”

Parma 1-3 Napoli – Match Highlights

Napoli hit back from a goal down to win 3-1 at Parma and strengthen their prospects of Champions League football next season.

After leading 1-0 at half-time thanks to a superb volley from Raffaele Palladino, Parma shot themselves in the foot in spectacular fashion during 10 second half minutes which saw them concede two goals and lose midfielder Daniele Galloppa to a straight red card for a high tackle.

Christian Maggio put the result beyond any doubt late on with a tidy low finish after more calamitous defending from Parma, who now lie 16th, just one point clear of the relegation zone. Napoli, meanwhile, leapfrog Udinese into third place, just a point behind champions Internazionale.
