David Beckham & Ashley Young In Agreement

Manchester United's legendary former right midfielder David Beckham and the clubs new £16 million signing Ashley Young are in agreement; the team at Old Trafford are the best team in Manchester, with the greatest history.

David Beckham, currently at LA Galaxy, spoke about his old clubs rivals and how they have been growing over the past few years into a team who will begin to challenge United. Of course, he acknowledged the progress they have made, and said that although they may be a threat next season and in years to come, they will never "be" Manchester United.

The 26 year-old had many happy years at United, winning six Premier League titles, a Champions League trophy and two FA Cups in 399 appearances. He never wanted to leave the club that had supported him through the good times and bad times in his career, and who brought him so much success, and he clearly still hold the club dear to his heart. He said of City:

"They're bringing good players in, they've got strong people with a lot of money behind them, so they're going to improve."

"But they'll never be Manchester United. They might be a threat this season but United have got the history, the silverware over the last 20 years. There's only one team in Manchester but City I'm sure will be a team to look at going forward."
Likewise, United's new signing Ashley Young is equally enthusiastic about the club, and claims it was a "no-brainer" when he heard of their interest in him. He was not in a position to turn down one of the biggest clubs in the world, and the former Aston Villa winger is now looking forward to adding to United's marvellous history:

"There was never any doubt once I knew United were interested. When one of the biggest clubs in the world comes after you, whether to sign for them or not is a no-brainer. I was delighted to hear about their interest. I just wanted to get my signature on the paper."

"I have confidence in my own ability. I always said I wanted to play at the highest level. Manchester United is that. This move gives me the opportunity to play in the Champions League and go for a 20th title. That just says it all."

"The history of the club is fantastic and I am delighted to be part of it."

David Beckham Happy To Play In Central Midfield For LA Galaxy

David Beckham has been deployed into central midfield on the weekend by LA Galaxy head coach Bruce Arena and both parties were extremely happy with the move.

Beckham has made his mark as a right-sided midfielder throughout his career but Arena thought it would be a good idea to throw him into the centre of the pitch for Saturday’s clash with Philadelphia Union.

The move paid off as Beckham produced his best performance for the Galaxy in a while as the team saluted 1-0.

The former Manchester United and Real Madrid star said that he enjoyed the move into the role as it reminded him of some of his past playing days.

“Bruce just said to me, ‘Do you want to try something different?’” Beckham said.

“We did and I think it worked well. We kept the ball well, we passed the ball around well and we created chances.

“I’ve played that position a number of times before, whether it be for Man. United, Real Madrid and England,” he said.

“I know that I can play that position.”

And Arena admitted that the move worked very well for the team.

“David played well,” he said. “We’re getting him back in the kind of form he needs to be in, in terms of his fitness. We played him centrally and I think he did a good job.

“He helps our passing and I was pretty impressed with his effort [Saturday], much improved from the first three games.”

Beckham given LA Galaxy captaincy

David Beckham

David Beckham is to captain the Los Angeles Galaxy for the first time in three years.

Bruce Arena, coach of the Major League Soccer club, decided that the former England captain will wear the captain's arm band on Saturday when the Galaxy visit MLS rivals Real Salt Lake.

"Bruce has asked me to wear it, and I'll be proud to wear it," said Beckham, who is in the final season his contract with the club.

"It doesn't change the way I play. It's something you're very proud to wear, but you need more than that one leader on the field."

Beckham last captained the Galaxy on October 26, 2008. The armband was given to US midfielder Landon Donovan the following year.

Donovan will miss Saturday's game to be with the United States team hosting Argentina in a friendly at East Rutherford, New Jersey.

Beckham Big Fan of Chicharito

Former Unitezzd star David Beckham has heaped praised on Manchester United's new star, and brilliant little goal scorer, Javier Hernandez and told the Mexican to enjoy playing for the "best club in the world".Beckham played close to four hundred games for United, and scored 87 very important goals making himself the biggest name in football since his debut in 1992 in the League Cup against Brighton Hove Albion. Hernandez's competitive debut was a different situation altogether. He came on against Chelsea in the Community Shield, scoring his first goal for United in a 3 - 1 win. This has been one of many goals this season for Chicharito and Beckham has been impressed with the 22 year-old:"Chicharito has been exceptional when he’s played. He scores goals, he takes chances, he works hard for the team."It’s great to see that. It’s great to see a young player doing really well who is from a different part of the world. To go to Manchester United and do well is exceptional."Hernandez has taken the place of Berbatov in the last few games, and has not disappointed, scoring two against Marseille to pull United through to the Champions League quarter finals. Beckham emphasized the quality of Hernandez, as Sir Alex wouldn't have him in the team if he wasn't good enough."He wouldn’t be in the team and he wouldn’t be scoring goals if Sir Alex Ferguson didn’t think he was a good player."It says a lot that he’s playing, it says a lot that he’s getting minutes on the field, obviously, the manager thinks a lot of him. Good luck to him."The current LA Galaxy star finished by wishing Chicharito good luck in his career at United."Enjoy playing for Manchester United. It’s the best club in the world." Beckham's television career included his various Pepsi adverts and it seems the Mexican is following in Beckham's commercial footsteps with this new Coke Zero advert:Tell me what you think!Follow DBSFootball on Twitterhttp://twitter.com/DBSFootballandFollow me on Twitter http://twitter.com/7DanTheMan
